SPECIAL COUNTY BOARD MEETING FOR THE PURPOSE OF A BUDGET CAUCUS SEPTEMBER 25, 2017 After the Pledge of Allegiance was said by all, the meeting was called to order by Chairman Mark A. Kern. Mr. Thomas Holbrook, County Clerk, called roll and determined a quorum was present. Appropriation for Funding for the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Probation Department in Excess of Appropriation Authorized by the 2017 Budget: Chairman Kern stated this was a Budget Caucus Meeting, and that although this was a Public Hearing, no action could be taken or debated. This meeting was for information and discussion only on the Appropriation for the Funding for the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Probation Department in Excess of Appropriation Authorized by the 2017 Budget. Chairman Kern called for questions from the public on the Budget issue and there were none. Chairman Kern called for questions from the County Board Members on the Budget issue. At this time, discussion ensued with questions and responses from the following individuals: Chairman Kern stated that we are opening the Budget to bring revenue in to pay the contract that the Chief Judge negotiated for the Probation Department. Mr. C. David Tiedemann inquired as to the dollar amount with Chairman Kern responding that that amount is $258,925.03. Mr. Kevin Dawson inquired where the funding is coming from with Chairman Kern responding that the funding is from bond forfeiture funds that have built up over a number of years. A motion was made by Mr. Frank Heiligenstein, seconded by Mr. Lonnie Mosley to close the Budget Caucus and adjourn.
